Inositol, PMOS (formerly PCOS) and Fertility: Evidence and Limits

Inositol has been studied in PMOS, but studies of an ingredient should not be treated as proof that a combination supplement improves fertility.
What the published PCOS guideline says
The 2023 international evidence-based PCOS guideline notes potential improvement in some metabolic measures with inositol, but limited clinical benefits, including ovulation, hair growth and weight. It does not recommend a specific type, dose or combination of inositol because quality evidence is lacking.
For women with PMOS and infertility, the guideline considers inositol experimental. Evidence about ovulation, clinical pregnancy and live birth is limited and uncertain. Inositol should not replace established infertility assessment or treatment.
What a 40:1 ratio means
The Inositol Plus label lists 1,000 mg of inositol and 25 mg of D-chiro inositol per six-capsule serving. That is a 40:1 ratio. It is a description of the formula, not proof of clinical effectiveness or a recommended fertility dose.
Inositol Plus is a combination product
Inositol Plus also contains red yeast rice and other ingredients. Evidence about inositol alone does not establish the benefits or safety of this entire combination. See the Supplement Facts image for all ingredients and amounts.
Important safety information
Red yeast rice is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It can have statin-like side effects and drug interactions. If you are trying to conceive, taking medicines or have a medical condition, discuss the entire formula with your clinician before use. Do not use this product as a fertility treatment.
